BOOK: The Chamber of Secrets CHAPTERS: 5 & 6 SYNOPSIS: Harry and Ron fly back to Hogwarts in Mr. Weasley's Ford Anglia, and the kids have their first class with their new DADA teacher.
They didn't think of sending Hedwig, either, as Professor M points out to them later in the chapter. I agree with Casi, it's simply how 12 year old boys (don't) think.
Every single time I read this chapter I root for them to have a logical change of mind even when I know that they are still going to drive that car into the tree. :)
I know the flying car is hugely popular, but good grief - why couldn't they have waited 15 mintues to see if Ron's parents would come out?

I chalk that one up to kid logic. They don't really think things through a lot of the time. :)
