This chapter illustrates one thing JKR is very good at - introducing back story without long chunks of exposition. The diary (and later in the series, the pensieve), give us glimpses into history that are fresh and real and alive. I wonder if Harry actually leaves his room when he enters Tom's memory, or if his body is still there on his bed and would respond to Ron's voice/touch if he entered.
ReplyDeleteI've never really thought about it that way...we never really do find out if he actually goes into the diary and whatnot. Weird.
