  1. I was completely caught off guard the first time I read the books. I had no idea Lupin was a werewolf, although with his name I should have seen it a mile in coming. Remus was suckled by a she-wolf in Roman mythology, and Lupin is just a whisker away from lupus.

About the movie - what I * did* miss was the scene where Snape is hovered back along the passageway, his head bumping the ceiling all the while. Would have liked to see that.

  2. Well, there is at least one other unregistered animagus that I can think of. We'll meet that person in Book 4.

Having read a LOT of English folklore, the idea of the Grim was not foreign to me. I thought the dog when it first showed up was a "ghost dog" of some sort. I was surprised to find out that it was Sirius.

I wish they'd had the scene where Snape is hovered through the passage too. That would have been great.

Lupin is my favorite marauder/teacher/all-around good guy. Completely one of my favorite characters.

  3. I'd be interested to see who else you think might be an unregistered animagus.
